About Trey.
Trey Everett is a playwright, novelist, and musician based in New York City. Born in Houston, Texas in 1988 and raised in the nearby suburb of Pasadena, he grew up in a working-class household with no ties to the creative industries, yet from an early age, he was drawn irresistibly to the arts. In high school, he threw himself into school plays, musicals, and rock and roll bands, working part-time jobs to support his ambitions along the way.
Pursuing those ambitions, he relocated to Southern California to study film and television acting at a conservatory, spending years chasing a livable income as a performer before finding his way back to his deepest and most enduring passion: storytelling.
As a playwright, Everett has built a growing body of stage work that has earned recognition both in and out of New York. His plays have been produced regionally in Michigan (Nothing Gold) and Indiana (The Mistake on the Lake), and he has had multiple 29-hour readings produced in New York City, including his plays Miraculous (2025) and By the End of Tonight (2023, and Columbia University 2026). In May 2026, his play Obit. received its World Premiere, and his play By the End of Tonight is set to make its World Premiere in London in 2027. Ron Fassler of TheaterPizzazz has called him "a playwright to keep an eye out for," advising readers to "set your radar accordingly."
Everett is also an author, having completed multiple manuscripts alongside his work stage work. He is the author of the novels Beneath the Surface (2021), and For It Will Be Yours (2023), both published by Texas-based independent publishing house, Black Rose Writing.
Music remains a constant thread throughout his creative life. He serves as drummer and backing vocalist for the folk trio Moonlight Graham, and pursues a solo project under the moniker ladyortiger. Together, these projects have taken him to venues across the country.
